Chasing Rainbows

I've spent my life chasing rainbows,
Bedazzled, beguiled by colourful hue.
Constantly searching for my crock of gold,
The cornucopia I seek is you!

Yes! Fallen once more for a woman so sweet,
Her worth couldn't be measured; gainst diamonds or pearls!
If at last, we were but to meet,
With her alone, I would share my world?

Yet rain clouds may gather, upon darkening skies;
Where shadows lurk both large and small!
Whilst far behind those sad misty eyes,
Your teardrops like raindrops still fall.

Within shadowy pasts her anguish I felt,
From secrets she cannot reveal.
Reminders of life, from a long time ago,
No more of her life shall they steal.

And where was I, in the midst of this?
Not knowing what else to do.
I was out busy chasing rainbows;
Too busy to notice you!

But now you have got my attention;
And my feelings for you are so true.
I wish you to join me, away from the past,
Thus creating memories anew?

To follow a path that's never been shown,
Only mapped out - in one's beating heart!
Two strangers and friends to a crossroads are drawn,
New chapters in life to embark!

If we could do this, how would you feel?
Riding that wave of insanity,
If this could be so, could we then steal?
A reality from out of profundity!

I've spent my life chasing rainbows,
Transfixed in times colourful tune!
Constantly searching for perfection,
The perfection I've now found in you.
