Farewell

No new beginnings, only the end.

We used to be lovers, now only friends.

The flame of our love fades and dies.

Unlike the twinkle, in your eyes.

I love you my darling, can't you see.

But my heart is filled, with misery.

For two years now, I thought you were mine.

Together we sipped, at life’s sweet wine.

We don't make love. No not anymore.

You pushed my love, out through the door.

No more sipping, on life’s sweet wine.

We reach for the bottle. But alas it's dry.

You need someone younger, that's better than me.

If you want your freedom. I'll give it to thee.

I'm much older and set in my ways.

Holding you back, with loves dying gaze.

I want you to be happy. You can be free.

But once in a while. Remember me.
