Forever Autumn

I live my days though forever autumn,
Life's changing patterns like turning leaves.
Just on the cusp, but never quite certain,
Gently swaying in
the autumnal breeze,
Teetering between the summers of gladness;
Of lasting memories full of fun!
Bowing before a winter of sadness,
Fading before a midwinter's sun!

The springtime of life has now passed on by;
Those
fun-packed days of childish delight!
Rushing, fleeting, like a whispered sigh,
Hurtling headlong, just out of sight!
Rushing towards those halcyon days,
Of young lovers courting, 'Neath midsummer moon;
Embracing the mysteries of loves sweet ways.
Then, before you know it, it's autumn so soon!

Forever autumn, with middle-aged wisdom.
In a middle-aged world, where grandchildren play!
Where visions of future remain on photographs,

Where all, is still young, in one's younger days?
Autumnal twilight, on the cusp of not knowing,
How many heartbeats, is there left to beat?
Making the most
of what time is left,
Before my ancestral care, I meet.

I live my days though forever autumn;
Lost in a world of my memories!
Remembering times almost forgotten.
Autumnal winds now starting to freeze,
Removing the fear from winter's cold rage!
With a hint of frost and a pale winters sun,
I ready myself, for oncoming old age.
Though my winter has yet to come!
