Journey Into Ravenswood

In front of them stood a deep dark forest,
With fear in their hearts; the company halted.
And pondered upon their quest,
To seek out the one who brought them together,
The one, they call, the Outlander.
For too long had they travelled to give up now?
And as the sun, cast its first rays of light upon the land.
The chosen went forth, on their journey, into Ravenswood.

With a sense of belonging, hearts flushed with pride.
They swore to never leave each other’s sides.
So off they rode that company so few.
With courage refreshed, their vows renewed.
An ancient path, threads, through ancient trees.
Uneven dirt track all littered with leaves.
Shrugging their shoulders, the chosen rode on.
Into the shadows; far from the sun

The company shuddered, as a chill took hold.
Like, cold dead hands, grasping their souls.
Far above the branches so high
The only sound heard, was the raven's cry.
Chattering omens a sad lament.
For the faint of heart or the easily spent,
Or a joining of spirits, for the stoutest of hearts,
Together forever ne'er to depart

With caution, they travelled along the track,
Whilst a sinister mist closed in at their backs.
Sealing their escape route; so no retreat,
Their journey through Ravenswood now to complete,
With a deafening silence, that bore no good.
An eerie stillness came over the wood.
The company heaved unsettled sighs,
As blinding darkness enshrouded their eyes,

An evil darkness of malicious unrest,
Had gathered to put them to the test,
Through this gloom, their eyes perceived.
Cages with skeletons hanging from trees,
Bones picked clean, by the ravens above.
Devoid of passion ignorant of love;
A seething mass of tortured souls,
Deterring these heroes, from their goal!

A terrible warning for those to come
Who walks in the shadows, instead of the sun?
These vengeful spirits moaned soulless cries;
To fill these heroes, hearts with lies.
Testing integrity, and courage of all,
Designed to make this company fall,
Only the righteous pass through this place.
Those who show pity, those that have grace,

So undeterred, the heroes rode on.
To find the Outlander their chosen one;
To seek their god of truth and peace,
A search from which, there's no release.
As they journeyed through Ravenswood,
All things evil were turning to good.
Ahead on their path, desolation and decay
Turning to new life, as they pass on their way!

Eventually, they reach the middle of the wood.
To a place, where an oak tree
temple stood.
And in the midst, of this sacred place;
A solitary statue, bearing the Outlander's face
The company alighted and tethered their mounts,
Approaching the statue, their blessings they count.
For reaching this place, through all of the gloom;
Penetrating the darkness of infinite doom!

Their journey almost over, their quest complete,
Thus, they knelt at the Outlander's feet.
Offering their praises to his statue form,
Thanking their lord, for the day they were born.
And the joining together, of these heroes so brave,
Bound in brotherhood, until the grave;
After their homage, and wisdom was won,
They then rode forth, back into the sun.

The wisdom gained, they now have to teach.
The wisdom of love, of truth and peace,
From searching and teaching, they'll be no rest,
Whilst justice and love, burns, within their breasts.
To wander the land, wherever they can,
Teaching these values to their fellow man!
And on through time the companions go,
Sowing the seeds for humanities growth!

Behind them stood a deep dark forest,
With joy in their hearts; the company halted.
And set off upon their quest,
They sought out the one, who brought them together,
But At the end, whom they found were themselves,
Forever they'll travel together, after finding that inner truth
And as the twilight, cast its first shadows upon the land.
The chosen went forth, on their journey, from Ravenswood.
