My Sweet Kathleen

(For my ex-wife - R.I.P 2011)

Twas in the valley of Eskdale,

Where I first met Kathleen;

She had long dark hair, skin so fair.

With eyes of emerald green!

Her gait was light; she walked on air.

Came to me without a care,

I fell in love, then and there.

With the woman, of my dreams,

She is, my sweet Kathleen.

The summer sun, shone brightly.

As brightly, as her smile.

Her fragrant perfume lingered.

Over many, a country mile

With her ruby red lips; she gave me a kiss.

Which caused my aching heart to miss.

While into her arms, I did slip.

To fit in, with her schemes.

She is, my sweet Kathleen.

She placed her small hand into mine.

While whispering in my ear.

Together, we can make a life,

Just you and I my dear.

I'll come with you; to your Yorkshire home.

We'll make a place to call our own.

And when the children have all gone,

We can relive our dreams.

That’s life, with sweet Kathleen.

My life with sweet Kathleen.
